Increase Education of Players in the NBA

The problem we are purposing is that only 21% of NBA players have an undergraduate degree. This affects many of the young minds in our world because they idolize NBA players and have given them a platform in a sense. Additionally, not having a college education to fall back on after the NBA results in many of the players to go broke in just five years after retirement. To resolve this problem and increase the level of education in the NBA we propose two changes. First we want to implement a scholarship program through the NBA similar to the MLB's program. The organization would reimburse it athletes for some of the expense of going to college. Our second change would be to raise the age of eligibility into the NBA from 19 to 21 years of age. This allows the players to have more time in college and complete nearly three years of school before they can even consider the NBA.
