Better service from Bahamian commercial banks

Over the last several years, service has deteriorated to unacceptable levels in Bahamian commercial banks. Customers constantly complain about the long lines, the lack of urgency displayed by tellers, the high fees, the redundant and frustrating requirements for account opening and cash checking, the loss of funds because of insecure debit card services, and the inability to speak to a living person when telephoning etc. Some banks are worst offenders than others. The level of frustration is growing and there appears to be no relief in sight. It appears that a conscious decision has been made by the powers-that-be to reduce the level of service to the bare minimum. The bare minimum is unacceptable. When you consider the high level of fees, the low interest paid on savings account, the lack of responsiveness to complaints and overall poor service, the time has come for us as customers to pressure commercial banks to do better.
