It has been a dream of many to have back yard hens! To be self sufficient in ways is a goal for many and due to living in city limits we are unable to have hens! I understand roosters are obnoxious! But hens do not make anymore noise than the local dogs who get excited over seeing a squirrel! So it is my mission to help get the city of Manton, Michigan to allow back yard city chickens! As long as they are maintained properly and have a proper inclosure they pose no harm to anyone!  Chickens are an asset! They would eliminate a lot of waste! They can eat many things that we just throw away such as oats, bread, fruit, veggies etc! And who doesn’t love a fresh egg! We should be teaching our children to be self sufficient! A small garden can also be fertilizer by the chickens waste product along with crushing egg shells to help the soil! Chickens are more useful than a tradition house pet!
