As 1st year Nursing students of Bachelor of Nursing Program at Humber College in collaboration with University Of New Brunswick, we believe that Nurs-1011 needs to be restructured. This course is really important for students to learn and understand properly to be able to excel as future health professionals but the current structure of this course is hindering the learning abilities and potentials of the students. It is not meeting the needs of students with various learning styles. Heavy dense readings are required yet no thorough discussion is generated to understand the material that is necessary and testable. This course is not interactive at all, synchronous sessions are to ask questions only and there are no particular asynchronous sessions that help students understand and point out important information of the readings. Students are paying heavily to teach themselves this course with uncertainty of not doing it right. We demand our institution to include us in our educational process, we need to be included in structure planning of our courses. Our voices and opinions need to be heard to create a cohesive, inclusive learning environment. Therefore, we demand reformation of Nurs-1011 in hopes that our institution will include us students in the reformation process.
