Fair Funding for BC Schools started this petition to B.C. Provincial Government and

B.C. students are funded well below the national per student funding average.  Over the past 20 years, underfunding has gone from $900 less per student some years to $1800 less per student last year.  This has resulted in crowded classes, lack of support for students with special needs, inadequate counselling for mental health support, inadequate teacher-librarian support, lack of adequate technology, outdated textbooks, cuts to music and arts programs, and outrageous class composition.

BC Underfunding of Public Education

BC students deserve to have the same educational opportunities as their peers attending school in other provinces.  They have been underfunded for 20 years and now have faced a global pandemic which has resulted in mental health challenges, school absences due to fear of the disease, and an inability to share the few classroom resources that exist, all resulting in further reduced educational opportunities.

We are very concerned that our students are being treated inequitably to students in the rest of Canada and we urge the government to fund schools appropriately so that our BC Students get the same educational opportunities as their peers in other provinces.
