Let me start by saying I have been a supporter of Kickstarter projects since 2012 and still support some projects. During this time I have been scammed by creators over a dozen times, and nearly $600 total, and I am aware of dozens of other projects where backers have been scammed in one way or another. All the while Kickstarter refuses to do anything. They don't hold creators accountable, they don't refund backers, they just collect their cut, and that isn't fair. Backers who pledge $25, $50, $100 on a project are not going to take the creator the court over that amount of money. It has become the perfect scam. Backers can't do anything, Kickstarter does nothing, and creators get away with it. So my goal with this petition is to have changes implemented at Kickstarter. Better vetting of projects, better response to suspicious projects, and Kickstarter NEEDS to refund backers who get scammed. Kickstarter would then take those creators to court to recoup their costs of refunding backers, everyone wins in this scenario except scammers for once! Backers get their money back and Kickstarter loses nothing. There needs to be some kind of a refund policy at Kickstarter or else we ALL lose.
