Todos nos hemos quedado boquiabiertos al pasear por La Providencia alguna vez. El azul profundo del mar, los grandiosos acantilados, los surferos y "parapenteros"... Es un paraíso a tan solo un paseo del centro de la ciudad.

Aún así, al pasearme por La Providencia siempre me doy cuenta de las frágiles papeleras y de la basura que ya se ha podido escapar de estas. Al estar justo enfrente del mar y al haber tanta brisa, gran cantidad del contenido de estas papeleras acaba en el océano. Esto no tiene que ser así. Sustituyendo las actuales papeleras de madera con papeleras con tapa y más estables así como cada uno procurando siempre tirar cualquier residuo dentro podemos conseguir un Gijón y un Cantábrico más limpio y respetuoso con el medio ambiente que compartimos con todas las criaturas del mar y futuras generaciones!

We've all been amazed strolling around La Providencia (a neighborhood in the city of Gijón, Spain) at some point. The deep blue of the sea, the huge cliffs, the surfers and paragliders... It is a paradise just a walk away from the city center. 

Yet, when walking around La Providencia I can't help but notice the wobbly and weak trash bins that are right by the beach walk and the plastics and waste that escapes from them. By being right next to the sea, with just a little bit of wind they tumble and release their contents straight into the ocean. This doesn't have to be like this though: replacing the current wooden bins with closed stable/sturdy bins as well as each pedestrian procuring to throw the trash inside we could obtain a cleaner and better Gijón and Cantabric Sea for all the ocean creatures and present and future generations to thrive in.
