PLANS for an office block to be constructed on Ayr's Riverside were rejected by South Ayrshire planning department in May 2018.

Community groups and individual members of the public are continuing to back our campaign to ensure a historical attraction is included in the new plans for Ayr Riverside.

When the former Woolworths store, was knocked down remains of 19th century Ayr were discovered - including the the former King's Arms Hotel which was demolished in the 1930s.

Momentum has been growing for archaeologists to keep digging to see what else they can find and for the findings to eventually be on display.

We feel a heritage site, with a glass floor for locals and tourists to walk above the remains of 'Auld Ayr', would bring Ayr back to life and encourage tourists to visit.

Do you agree?

The Council and Ayr Renaissance are working on new plans for the Riverside and feel the majority of the Riverside should remain an open space.

There have been discussions to use the remaining building as a heritage centre with elements of Ayr's history put on display.
