Disallow revival songs from being nominated for the next Awit Awards

Did you know Poker Face, Single Ladies, Faithfully and Born This Way are all nominated in Awit Awards? Just because some Filipino artists covered these songs, that's why they're allowed to be nominated although these are not OPM!

There is the need to ban revivals for being nominated in the Awit Awards. For albums, I proposing that if an album with revivals was nominated, it should only have at least 20-30% revivals and 70-80% of the whole album is comprise of original songs. Revivals are defined as songs re-recorded by someone other than its original artist. In other words, they are also considered as "cover versions". Currently, the Philippine Association of the Record Industry (PARI) allow revivals to be entered to Awit Awards. For the past three years, revivals represent 27% of all recording nominees in 24th Awit Awards, 17% in 25th and 34% in 26th Awit Awards that happened last year. These statistics tell us that original songs cover more than 50% of all nominees on the recent years. This gives us the current picture of the Philippine music industry which tell us that more original songs are being created every year. This is why I'm urging PARI to disallow revivals for being nominated in all song categories. Originality is increasing in the OPM industry nowadays and we need further develop it by banning revivals (covers) to be entered to the Awit Awards which is considered the Philippine version of the Grammys.
