Stop the Harassment of Hai Na Supermarket

While in Bath City center on Thursday the 1st of February my partner and I (and other bystanders) witnessed what we believe to be a racially motivated attack on Hai Na Oriental supermarket by a large group of teenagers.
We witnessed the group slamming down the grates over the front entrance in an aggressive manner and then running away. The owners were distressed and explained to us that the same group has been targeting them for a year and a half, resulting in a physical assault the week before leaving one of them with a black eye. (CCTV photos are available from the incident)
On discussing more with the owners they showed us CCTV footage of the group spitting on the premises, stamping aggressively on the floors and stealing. They also described to us how little help they had received from the police, even being told that one owner did not 'speak good enough English' for them to help. They have called over 10 times and said that still nothing has been done. Friends of the owners who are also Chinese have been targeted on the street by the group asking for money or cigarettes.
Please support this petition to put pressure on Avon and Somerset police to protect this independent Chinese owned business in the same way that other independent English owned businesses would be protected.
This ongoing incident has been reported and taken up as a case by SARI as a hate crime. If you would like to express your feelings about this incident please call the Avon and Somerset police and let them know.
