Why this petition matters

Started by Matthew Rondinelli

Despite national rules and advice relating to face coverings and other social controls having since been discontinued by the UK Government, Avenue Nurseries Lasham (Alton, Hampshire) is internally continuing some expectation that their staff wear face coverings regardless of these changes.

As the Avenue Nurseries garden centre and restaurant are not healthcare settings, there is no valid argument for why Avenue Nurseries staff should be required or subjected to feeling expected to work under internal restrictive conditions that may be detrimental to their personal wellbeing.

Being a loyal customer of many years, it is a deeply unpleasant experience to be served by kind and friendly staff who are not themselves encouraged to enjoy equality with their customers.

So as a simple and reasonable alternative, freedom of choice permits any members of staff who prefer to wear face coverings to continue doing so, whilst also allowing those who prefer otherwise to have their choice fairly respected, as is reflected across the sector.

Should you agree, please sign this petition to indicate to the Avenue Nurseries management team that any internal policy or expectation that staff continue to wear face coverings please be discontinued immediately.

Thank you.
