Enforce refunds for travel tickets purchased in advance ,that can't be used due to covid19
The Issue
Across the world we are facing major challenges due to the Coronavirus, many of us had purchased tickets for train journeys , holidays ,coach journeys or bought season tickets. The Government has advised against travel unless urgent , and wants to minimise social interaction. Most companies are being reasonable in their responses and are refunding customers for their purchases , recognising that it is hard for many of us to plan future travel due to the uncertainty of the situation. Avanti West Coast however are refusing to budge on their advance purchase policy , stating that they have removed the admin fee and we can rebook for future travel . This is totally unreasonable given that if we are travelling for work , some may not have jobs in the future , and therefore need to preserve every penny we can. Also the Government have announced measures to support business for any financial losses during this time. It seems to me that Avanti West Coast are not applying common sense in this situation and are alone in their stance. I'm asking the Government to intervene to force such companies to act in the interests of the country.
