Australians supporting a Free Iran: Hold the IRGC responsible for the death of Mahsa Amini
Why this petition matters
The death in custody of 22-year-old Mahsa Zhina Amini on 16 September 2022, after she was violently arrested by Iran’s “morality” police has caused an outcry across Iran.
Young female teenagers such as Nika Shakarami (16 years old) left her house to join the protests on September 20th and went missing. 10 days later, her family was informed by the police that someone with similar characteristics was discovered. Nika's family was not allowed to see her face. The medical examiner reported her nose and skull had been smashed in, a large cut from her abdomen to her chest, and concluded she had been repeatedly raped and beaten.
There are hundreds of stories emerging from the 2022 protests in Iran, where young teenagers are being killed for simply expressing their desire for a democracy.
The regime has bombed a school in the Kurdistan province and has killed 100s of oppressed peoples in Balochestan.
This use of aggressive force against its people should be condemned by the Australian government, and the IRGC must be listed as a terrorist organisation. It's embassy should not be allowed to spread its propaganda in Australia via it's website and Twitter account. Their blatant refusal to acknowledge the situation in Iran is shameful and they must be held accountable.
We therefore ask the House to list the IRGC as a terrorist organisation and request them to cease and desist spreading their propaganda in Australia on their Embassy social media and website.
Young teenagers and women will continue to be brutally raped, beaten, tortured and killed.
We need a revolution in Iran.
We say NO to the Islamic Republic of Iran.
We say NO to Khamenei's dictatorship.
YES to democracy in Iran!
