More bike paths in the Illawarra

Did you know?
There are not enough bike paths for cyclists in the Illawarra that actually lead to places
Cyclists are forced to ride along dangerous roads due to inconsistent bike tracks/paths and they receive hefty fines for riding along footpaths
Cyclists are forced to share the roads with motor vehicles, this leads to disruption in the flow of traffic and is potentially dangerous especially for those riding bikes
Why should cyclists be expected to share the roads with other vehicles when they cannot keep up with the speeds of the other vehicles sharing the roads & in contrast why should motor vehicles be expected to share the roads with bikes who cannot keep up with the traffic flow
There needs to be more cycle paths in the Illawarra in order to keep our roads safer
Let's not deny the social, economic and environmental benefits to Australians that cycle, they should be able to travel with the same regard as any other vehicle in terms of getting from A to B!
There are too many avoidable fatalities involving cyclists in the headlines this needs to stop
I think we can all agree that there is never too much safety for our children
Should this petition be successful cyclists will be expected to pay a small fee for registration and a licence that they will need to carry with them whilst cycling and like all other vehicles will lose points for not having a helmet and for not abiding by new laws ie riding along the bike paths wherever provided, if there is enough space for roads & pedestrians, there should be enough space for more cycle tracks!
If you would like Illawarra to be more environmentally friendly and safer for everyone and agree that this is a great cause, go ahead and sign the petition!
