Make blood donation possible for country Australians - like those in Holly's hometown

In 2015, the Australian Red Cross phased out their mobile collection centres which serviced rural and regional Australia to meet th increasing demand for plasma donations in larger permanent centres. For many country Australians, this shift has made it impossible to donate life-saving blood.
I have been in contact with the Australian Red Cross about this before, but have been met with the same answer: our collection centres are right where we need them to be...in the cities.
However, this week I have a fresh reason to care. Because 27 is too young to die, and that was the exact age of our dear family friend, Holly Butcher, who lost her battle with Ewing's Sarcoma last Thursday. Holly was so valiant and strong in her fight, but perhaps her greatest gift of all was the note that she left behind. Her 'life advice' that had touched millions of hearts around the world showed wisdom and insight far beyond her years.
In her note, Holly urged us to live our lives, be grateful for what we have and to have the guts to change the things that make us miserable. The fact that I can't give blood - that gave Holly an extra year of precious life - makes me miserable.
Now is our time to make a change.
I am starting this petition with the aim of making blood donation possible for EVERYONE in Australia. We need the Australian Red Blood Cross Blood Service to reinstate their mobile blood collection services to rural and regional areas, such as Holly's hometown of Grafton, to ensure that our life-saving blood makes it to the people who need it most.
People like Holly. People who need blood to move their bodies. People who need more time to breathe fresh Aussie air in their lungs or cuddle their dog.
This is not about stats, data, money or numbers. This is about real people, like Holly, and real people like me. I want to give blood, as I have many times before. I know I'm not the only one.
We need mobile blood collection centres back in country Australia.
