We as a community need to battle to lower the age of when you can gain your 'L'[ plate from 16 to 15. There are so many kids out there who await the day they turn 16 to finally be able to put there hands on the wheel and go off into the horizon legally. Being able to drive gives you sense freedom and having to wait till your 16 to only realise that you must be accompanied by an adult, it can be annoying and frustrating.

Soon with the increase of hours, the 'L' platers must complete it will be very hard for them to achieve it. It is currently 120 hours but will be soon raised to 200 hours. Not only that 16-year-olds must balance a healthy physical and mental lifestyle. There can be many pressures that could affect how well they can be organised and how well they manage time trying to fit in all of this. But we can help teenagers out by giving them more time and allowing them more flexibility so that they can all try out for the driving test when they get to 18. This way no one will be left behind we can all still drive at the legal minimum age.

A lot of people argue that it would be dangerous but we can see from ACT's statistics and data that they have reduced car accidents since and there minimum driving age for 'L' platers is 15years and 9 months. They have successfully gone from 13.6 accidents to 2.3 accidents out of 100,000 people. The ACT has also had the most luck in reducing car crashes coming out as number one for least car crashes in Australia.
