Magda Szubanski is an Australian comedic icon who optimises unique Aussie humour. Her hilarious performance of the Australian anthem in the TV series Kath & Kim could be recreated on the Olympic stage to showcase the classic Australian sense of humour at the Brisbane 2032 Olympics opening ceremony.

Further to this, Magda is a campaigner of human rights and a descendant of Polish immigrants to Australia. 

Having Magda perform would therefore be an opportunity to showcase not only the light hearted and funny side of Australian 21st Century culture, but also our common values of diversity and respect. 

Note: In the Australian TV show Kath & Kim, Magda’s character Sharon gets the lyrics of the anthem wrong. This need not be the case in the official olympics ceremony if the authorities feel this would be a step too far. Magda’s performance would nevertheless be hilarious and unique. It would be sure to make international headlines for all thr right reasons.
