To reduce the time a person can apply for a divorce, in the case of domestic violence.

Currently in Australia, the waiting time for a person to be able to divorce their ex partner, is one year and one day. I think, where there has been proven domestic violence, and the victim has been courageous enough to leave their abusive partner, there should be a loop hole in the law, that entitles the victim, to divorce their abuser earlier, therefore releasing them from the marriage that has been so distructive to them. I understand that the year and one day, is so that you may patch things up in the meantime, but a victim who doesn't want to reconcile with their abuser, should be given the choice of releasing themselves earlier than the current waiting time.
