Waverley Hockey Club & Victorian Sikh Association started this petition to Australian Government and

For over 30 years Ashwood Reserve has been co-located by the Waverley Hockey club (WHC) and Victorian Sikh Association (VSA).

The present ‘facilities’ and ‘space’ available at Ashwood Reserve do not meet the current needs or future growth plans of the VSA, or the sports facility requirements of the WHC.  Over the last three decades both organisations have grown substantially. Growth in terms of playing membership for the WHC. Also a big upsurge in community focussed and multicultural activities undertaken by the VSA.

It is clear to both clubs that Ashwood Reserve will not be able to support and provide the space needed for substantial expansion and the future needs of the VSA and WHC.

In view of the above, the clubs are petitioning all levels of government for help assisting the VSA and WHC to transition for future growth. Both clubs remain focussed on promoting physical and mental well-being, as well as multiculturalism, diversity and inclusion.

At the City of Monash council meeting on 31 August, 2021 the following resolutions were passed and agreed upon. These include:

- City of Monash to find a suitable site for relocating the Victorian Sikh Association to meet its needs and future growth.

- Federal/State Government assist with costs associated with VSA finding a new home and upgrading existing facilities at the new  site or build a new facility.

- Federal/State Government to assist with costs associated with Waverley Hockey club expansion plans including  a 2nd hockey pitch.

Please sign this petition in support of the VSA and WHC’s plans, calling for support from all levels of government to make this happen.
