Stop legislation reducing the pension of Australian citizens that have lived in Australia for less then 35 years.
This petition had 1,081 supporters
Stop the Australian Government introducing legislation on the 1st of January 2014 that will extend the number of years you must have lived in Australia from 25 to 35, to receive the full pension if you want to live abroad. If you have lived in Australia for less then 35 years you will receive a part pension, dependent on the number of years you have lived in Australia.
We are all Australian Citizens no mater how long we have lived in this country, therefore why is the Government of Australia trying to divide our society on the basis of time we have spent in this country. We work hard, and pay taxes like everybody else. If you have been naturalised as an Australian Citizen, you should be entitled to the same rules that apply to any other Australian Citizen. Over a quarter of all Australians were born overseas making it possible that they will want or need to spend some time in the country of their birth once they retire. Therefore, I urge you to sign this petition to stop the Government cutting the pension for valid pensioners, and treat all Senior Citizens of Australia equally. And sing with one voice,
I am, you are, we are Australian.
