Right To Repair Information For Australian Independent Automotive Workshops

The ACCC released its report addressing competition and consumer issues in the new car retailing and associated markets in mid December 2017.

Relevant to the Automotive Workshop Repair industry is the finding that access to repair information and coding / programming data is being restricted by manufacturers in breach of the voluntary code of practise as well as the restricted supply of some parts.

This is causing undue stress and cost on independent repairers and increased costs and waiting times for customers.

The FCAI (Federal Chamber of Automotive Industry) who represents the manufacturers is lobbying hard to suppress these facts.

We need to show the government that this is really affecting our industry and impacting our customers.

While we may not have the money of the FCAI, we have the numbers, so lets show the government how many people are really affected by this and sign on today.

We the undersigned urge the Treasurer the Hon. Scott Morrison and the sitting members of parliament to sign into law the recommendations of the ACCC report into the new car retailing market, specifically those relating to independent repairers access to repair information and coding / programming data and parts supply.
