Don't waste taxpayer $ on a plebiscite or postal vote, just change the Marriage Act.

The Australian Government voted on the Marriage Amendment Bill 2004 without having a plebiscite or a postal vote of the Australian people. The purpose of this amendment was to formally define marriage in the Marriage Act 1961 and to ensure that same sex marriages are not recognised as marriage in Australia, inclusive of those performed under the laws of another country that permits such unions.
If you don't want millions of taxpayers dollars wasted on a plebiscite or a postal vote of the Australian people and just want the politicians to put forward an amendment to the Act and allow a free vote about legalising same sex marriages in Australia, then please sign this free petition (it won't cost ANY taxpayers dollars).
It is interesting that in Australia we have legislation that makes it illegal to discriminate against someone because of their sexual preference and yet some of our legislation does EXACTLY THAT!
