Chiu Ng started this petition to Australian Government Department Of Health

The recent 2019-ncov virus resulting a breakout in pneumonia cases in Wuhan, China is clearly demonstrating to be a health hazard for Australia, as we are seeing uptick in domestic cases, whilst an increasing uptrend in the global spread for such diseases to cause an epidemic for humanity (this is clearly evident already within China).

As an Australian recently returning home from a short business trip, seeing the lack of controls we have to protect ourselves over the possibility of such disease spreading within our community alarms me (especially when I compare this to our global peers).

I strongly urge the Australian government to implement tougher and harsher measures for inbound flights so we are able to provide preventing measures against a local outbreak.

We are in need to have thermal check and fever check for all passengers in coming into Australia, further scrutiny into a general pan-asia travellers, and have decisive quarantine measures for anyone who poses minute symptoms of the virus to protect local Australians (especially with a large expectance of Chinese returnee post CNY from various Chinese cities locations which will likely be a carrier of the virus).

We also are in serious need to be in touch with ALL travellers on the direct flights between Australia and Wuhan who is still on local territory to ensure we can monitor potential developments of this virus within our community.

These measures (and surely with your administrative powers you may do more) will help safeguard our elders and young ones, our fellow commuters and wider community from this deadly virus.

Yours sincerely
