We all want to contain the virus and protect the vulnerable, but mandatory Hotel Quarantine is just NOT CUTTING IT.

Most people that are landing in Australia are citizens that have been stranded in other countries during the pandemic, or have had to travel for diverse emergencies like a dying family member, a funeral... such as myself. And not only they found it a struggle to find a flight back to their homes in Australia after living a traumatic experience, they've also have been forced to pay abusive flight ticket prices in desperation to come back (tickets are anywhere from $5k to $10k), and once landed, they have been escorted by police and treated like infected people, locked up in a room for 14 days, with the bare minimum services (food is air plane like, and you don't get o chose at all), and forced to pay a figure of $3k for that afterwards, with essential services like laundry, to be paid on top of that, and DIY cleaning of your room because you are supposedly infected with Covid. There were families with very young kids in my same flight that have to be subject to this too.

We need support, we need to go home with our loved ones where we feel safe and comfortable, and not be ripped off and treated this way as soon as we arrive. A lot of us are in a delicate emotional state and this exacerbates it.

You're talking about the deaths to Covid but not much talk about the increased suicide rate and the hardship a lot of Australians are going through.

Adapt the regulations to have us quarantine at home and have more control of us, increase the fines and penalties for breaching this mandatory quarantine, it will surely be cheaper than the whole hotel committee. ACT FAST!
