Fund the duplication of the Barton Highway
The Barton Highway is an Australian National Highway joining the nation's capital to the Hume Highway. It is only a short strip of Highway which is heavily utilised during peak hours. The 2013 AusRAP Star Rating Report rated at JUST 2 STARS (out of a possible 5 stars) 85% of the 20.8km stretch of road between the ACT border and Murrumbateman, and 67% of the 18.6km stretch of road between Murrumbateman and the Hume Highway. The duplication has been planned for some time - lives are being lost while this work is not being undertaken. There are NO FUNDS allocated to this road in the forward funding for infrastructure and NO ELECTION COMMITMENTS to fund it. Failure to fund this duplication project is putting the safety of our family and our friends at risk. The community need to start taking this issue to the Government so that this important project is not overlooked any longer. Only by speaking up will the Government hear what we have to say!
