Have the UC plaza swing oiled so it doesn't sound like it's dying
Everyone enjoys sitting out in the UC plaza, whether that be in the sun or the shade. A third, less traveled option for plaza goers is the swing that sits in one of the garden beds nearby. It is one of the few, if not the only, swings available for leisure on campus. Yet surprisingly, it is generally left unoccupied.
One might ask, "Why is this swing with such a beautiful view left so vacant?" Well, should you take a seat and take a swing, you will quickly discover why. Whoever begins using the swing, along with everyone else in the surrounding area, will hear an ear-piercing squeak emit from the joints of it's construction, causing irritation and displeasure for those who hear it.
I would posit that such a lively and unique feature of the plaza should not be left in this condition, particularly when it could serve as a detriment to anyone attempting to study or converse in the plaza. If this petition gains enough traction, perhaps Austin Peay's administration may take notice and take action.
