Nate Meier is a Aurora police officer who was found passed out in the middle of the road. His foot was still on the brake and miraculously no one was hurt. He was indeed intoxicated. He got no criminal charges whatsoever and no work related punishment. If you break the law. You get in trouble. That’s how it’s supposed to work. So let’s get this man off the road and out of the department. I started this petition because I’ve done research on how much cops get away with illegal activities and get no repercussions for it. And the fact that this one is very very close to home for me makes me fear for my safety. If the police aren’t serving and protecting, then who is? Or when they break the law, they’re no better than the criminals they’re supposed to stop. Nate Meier is a prime example. He went MIA in the middle of his shift to go day drink vodka at his house. He was gone for several hours and then decided to go out on patrol. Why, no sane person knows. He then proceeds to pass out behind the wheel and veer into the median to take a nice little nap. His foot was on the break, but if he would’ve fallen asleep and let the car go he could’ve hurt, or even worse killed someone if not multiple people. Something like this would usually land you a DUI which can cost up to $10,000 in legal costs. And you usually lose your job. But he gets neither. He gets to walk talk right back into work Monday morning.
