Include Filipino Sign Language and Braille subject in AB Communication Curriculum
There are 4 major subjects in the University of San Austin's AB Communication Curriculum dedicated to languages: Vernacular language for communication with underprivileged locals, Korean for pop culture, Chinese for business communication, and French for International relations such as the United Nations. We also have a major subjects dedicated to societal issues and one societal issue that is rarely touched upon is accessibility for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs).
In a potential way to look more into this, we can also include a subject dealing with communicating with PWDs with communication barriers through including a Filipino Sign Language (FSL) and Braille class. Through this, we can focus some attention on people such as deaf people and blind people who tend to be overlooked by our society.
Should the inclusion be to heavy a load for the next batch of students, we may omit one of the foreign languages to put more focus on our own country's PWDs.
This petition also includes a suggestion for all ACG produced videos should have mandatory subtitles to for the convenience of Deaf viewers.
