Auckland Transport is lowing speeds across the city and many roads are dropping up to 40KPH. They say this will make the roads safer witch in fact not. The reason for crashes is the lack of driving ability in New Zealand. Take a look at the German Autobahn witch has a speed limit of 130KPH and many parts without any speed limit but just a recommended speed this regarded as one the safest roads in the EU.

Instead of lowing speed limits which is just going to cause an inconvenience, instead we should look at having stricter driver licensing if they are really doing it for safety and not for more revenue. A lot of crashes are actually caused by drivers that are going too slow and a crash occurs when one overtakes.
