Recycling/Composting Bins in St Heliers

Recycling/Composting Bins in St Heliers
As local citizens of St Heliers who are concerned about the impacts on our environment, we want to implement public recycling/composting bins along the St Heliers waterfront.
Our aim of this petition is to see whether this action would be supported by the people in St Heliers. We will take this petition to representatives of the Auckland Council, to encourage them to finalise further procedures in establishing the public recycling bins.
The reason why we need public recycling/composting bins in this busy location is to decrease the amount of recycling/compost going to landfill, which would, in the long term, benefit our environment for future generations. For example pizza boxes, takeaway coffee cups and brown paper bags are being put in the waste bin and aren’t being recycled. This contributes to pollution, as many of these products could have been recycled and reused.
