Muriwai Regional Park is a multi-use area and one of the nine regional parks in the Auckland district allocated for recreational horse riding.  All users of the park are entitled to safety measures that will allow activities to be enjoyed.  Reckless use of drones in the park causes a major safety risk, particularly for horse riders.  There are particular areas in confined space where drones should not be permitted within a considerable distance due to the risk of injury to horse riders and their horses.  This includes the area reserved for horse parking, the track specified for horse use from the horse parking to the beach, and the tracks behind the sand dunes allocated for horse use where visibility is limited.
