Upgrade Our CCTV System in Pukekohe

My 19 year old son was assaulted by a group of youths in King Street, Pukekohe. This assault was unprovoked. He was punched and kicked to the ground, then repeatedly kicked in the head, face and body. Pukekohe Police are still investigating this incident, so I will not comment further.
He is recovering from his injuries.
Unfortunately, no CCTV footage of the incident was recorded, as the camera in that area was facing the wrong way.
I am asking for your support that the CCTV system in Pukekohe is upgraded and that more cameras are installed. This is a vital tool for the security and safety of the community and our lovely town. Also one which our local police force would greatly benefit from. Not only would it provide evidence in assaults and hopefully lead to the prosecution of offenders, it would help with vandalism, robberies, shoplifting, truanting and tagging.
This issue affects every person in our community. We need to feel safe.
Auckland City Council need to do something about this. Just about every infrastructure in Pukekohe is being upgraded, why is security and safety not a priority?
