Dr. Duane Lacey has been teaching at the AUCA for the last 10 years. General Education Department has decided not to renew Professor Lacey’s contract for the next academic year, in an unprofessional way without informing him ahead of time. This news has left many students devastated. We, as his students, want the university to know how much of a valued professor he is. He is the only qualified professor of philosophy at AUCA. It will be a great loss to us, as students, to no longer have him as our professor. We are very disappointed with this ill-considered decision. By firing the most valuable and qualified professor from AUCA, the quality of education will dramatically decrease. AUCA must not lose such a valuable ‘gem’ from its faculty. Professor Lacey has had an enormous impact on countless students at AUCA, and he has been wholeheartedly devoted to his teaching and to his students.
