Aubrey’s law the right to have a relationship with grandparents
Why this petition matters
My name is Kimberly Price but I’m called Mimi by my grand babies! I had a very close and loving bond with my granddaughter. My husband (Papa) and I an were integral part of her life for many years. My daughter and her husband went through a very nasty divorce. We were there to financial and emotional support my daughter. She lost custody of her daughter and only has visitation. After the divorce was finished we were alienated from our granddaughters life. Our granddaughter told us that she was told she could no longer visit Mimi and Papa . There is no reason for this emotional abuse. I believe emotional damage is being done to my granddaughter and us as well. We are in our 60s and cannot afford the thousands of dollars it takes to go to court just to have a relationship with our beloved granddaughter. I would like to see a change in the law to make it possible for aging grandparents that have been cut off from their grandchildren to at least have that option without spending their retirement. Especially if there was and can be proven a healthy relationship before. It’s been documented how this behavior towards grandparents and grandchildren is considered severely abusive. And affects generations to come.
