To Athabasca University Board of Governors:

The last fifteen months have been incredibly challenging for everyone at Athabasca University. As Individual Study Tutors, Academic Experts, and Markers at AU, we have gone above and beyond to support our students who have endured numerous challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic.

We, the academic instructors of CUPE 3911, support our Bargaining Committee’s efforts to achieve a fair contract with:

Better entitlements;
- Improved sick leave provisions
- Long term disability
- Health spending account
Improved rights;
- Fair treatment for Academic Experts
- Equal seniority rights for out-of-province members 
- Marking coverage from Day 1 of sick or vacation time 
- Fair consultation before changes are made to our working environment
Compensation;
- Pay for attending all employer initiated training and meetings 
- Increased professional development funds 
- Increased wages

We support the right of every worker in our union to be paid a living wage and to have the benefits we require to support ourselves and those who depend on us. 

As educators, our top priority is serving our students and providing the best possible support we can. 

We stand united as a union to fight for a fair and equitable contract for every academic instructor in our union.
