It is time to root out collusion and corruption in the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office. 

Everyone deserves a justice system that treats them fairly and keeps them safe. Prosecutors are Ministers of Justice, charged with protecting public safety. Public Safety requires public trust. When prosecutors break the law, and violate their oath as guardians of justice, trust in the law is broken and we all suffer.

Recent public record act requests revealed emails showing  a pervasive and deliberate pattern of collusion and campaign finance violations. More than 31 employees in the Alameda County District Attorney’s office worked on District Attorney Nancy O’Malley’s re-election campaign in 2018 at work using the County’s e-mail system. Some of the emails show senior district attorneys and employees illegally coordinating their efforts with police unions from around the state. They also appear poised to begin another smear campaign against District Attorney candidate Pamela Price (read more @ https://www.ktvu.com/news/alameda-county-da-staff-hit-with-illegal-campaign-allegation ).

This corruption must stop. Prosecutors are elected to serve the people, not special interests. Prosecutors are charged with using taxpayer resources  to promote public safety, not campaign for their boss or collude with police unions. Prosecutors and police are not above the law. Taxpayers deserve better.

For far too long, District Attorneys across the country have gone unchecked, using taxpayer resources for their own personal gain. Nationally, communities are holding prosecutors accountable for their misconduct. The recent indictment in Georgia of the District Attorney who tried to cover up the fatal shooting of Ahmaud Arbery is a good start. Now, it is time for change in Alameda County. 

It is time to build trust in our justice system. It is time for justice done right. We demand an immediate investigation into campaign finance crimes, corruption and collusion in the Alameda County District Attorney’s office. We demand California Attorney General Rob Bonta, the California Fair Political Practices Commission, the Alameda County Grand Jury, and the California State Bar immediately investigate and that all offending parties be appropriately disciplined. If we do not act NOW, if we do not demand accountability, we know prosecutorial misconduct will not stop.

This petition is a push for justice created by Pamela Price for Alameda County District Attorney 2022. Prosecutorial accountability is part of her commitment to root out public corruption. Pamela Price has pledged not to take police money, has worked to ensure the local Democratic Party does not endorse candidates doing so and that State Bar rules address conflicts of interest by District Attorneys. She also supports requiring District Attorneys who take political donations from police unions recuse themselves from cases involving potentially illegal conduct by a police officer.
