A Democrat candidate for Sheriff in Buncombe county North Carolina R. Daryl Fisher publicly threatened the lives of law-abiding citizens who choose to exercise their God-given and constitutionally protected right to keep and bear arms, when he said the following: "You've heard people say 'you'll have to pry my gun from my cold dead hands' <shrugs>...OK!" The statement was made on or about March 7 2018, at the Moms Demand Action monthly member meeting, West Asheville Library. It is illegal for someone to willfully threaten to commit a crime that will result in death or great bodily harm; the threat is made with the specific intent that it be taken as a threat; the threat is so unequivocal, unconditional, and specific as to convey a gravity of purpose and immediate prospect of execution. Furthermore, one cannot be expected to honor an oath of office to uphold the Constitution of the United States after publicly threatening individuals who choose to exercise the rights enumerated in the Bill of Rights.
