This is a plea to the Attorney General to review the sentence of Roger Goodall, whose actions took away the life of 11 year old girl, Olivia-Violet Sunshine Reeves.
A four and a half year sentence is an insult for taking a child's life.
On 15th June 2017 Olivia was walking to the bus stop on her way home from school when she was tragically killed by a drunk driver.
77 year old Roger Goodall was drunk behind the wheel, when he veered across the road, mounting the pavement striking a telegraph pole and Olivia. Goodall hadn't been caught out by having one too many with his lunch, he had actually decanted alcohol into water bottles and was drinking behind the wheel. It was later revealed he had already been having black outs due to his drinking and was advised by his doctor to contact the DVLA, which he neglected to do.
Goodall even admitted that decanting alcohol into water bottles was something that he regularly did to drink behind the wheel. When asked if he thought this was acceptable? He said "it has never done me any harm".
Olivia's family have been torn apart, this young, beautiful girl would still be with us, if it wasn't for the selfish and negligent actions of Goodall - whom has shown very little remorse for what he did that day.
The Crown Court has given Goodall a sentence of four and a half years, which is an insult to the memory of Olivia and a kick in the face of justice for her family.
Last Friday, Olivia-Violet’s family applied to the Solicitor General for permission to appeal the sentence, which they said was too lenient, but just a few days later they learned that they had been unsuccessful.
We desperately need to get this case reviewed for a much harder sentence for Goodall, a man whose actions so cruelly took the life of this beautiful little girl.
