Maine Cannabis Coalition started this petition to Attorney General Aaron Frey

On May 11th 2020 Maine Attorney General Aaron Frey in collaboration with the Office of Marijuana Policy have decided to not enforce residency requirement laws for the adult use marijuana program licensing in Maine. In doing so a lawsuit was withdrawn by dispensary Wellness Connection opening the door for a flood of endless Wallstreet money to pour into our state.  Make no mistake those new funds will be used to further discourage local owned small business and further the monopolization agenda for the out of state owned corporate giants.  That residency law was the last line of defense for fair opportunity to many small businesses in the Maine cannabis industry.

We the residents of Maine are sick and tired of witnessing our government being used as a tool to aid big money businesses while that same government is used as a weapon against small business.  We are exhausted from our countless visits to our statehouse, our countless fights, our countless sacrifices where we exhibit our 1st amendment rights as citizens only to watch as our government fails we the people time after time.  As we act accordingly as citizens of Maine. As we obey the laws of Maine as written. As we continue to pay our taxes we are to observe as our own attorney general turns against his oath to his constitutional obligations............ a agreement to ignore the rule of law when you are the top cop in Maine?  Why is it OK Attorney General Aaron Frey, to defy the law that we the people fought for?  Once again we the local folks of Maine have been thrown under the bus.

- In 2010 Maine awarded 7 out of 8 medical marijuana dispensary licenses to people whom were not from Maine

- Local ownership opportunity came in the form of a caregiver license which were unconstitutionally limited to:
A: Maximum of 5 customers at any time.
       B: Limit of 1 employee
C: No caregiver to caregiver sales
       D: No collectives or partnerships
E: Max plant count of 30
(Non of these limitations applied to out of state owned dispensaries)

Please stop stacking the deck against local owned opportunities in the Maine marijuana industry!!!

Attorney General Aaron Frey you are a elected official and you work for the citizens of Maine.  We demand you immediately withdraw or retract any and all settlements offered or agreed outside of the court and allow for the due process of our judicial system to determine the outcome of this legal challenge against residency requirements for adult use marijuana licenses in Maine.
