Rezone the Mornington Peninsula as Regional Victoria.

Rezone the Mornington Peninsula as Regional Victoria.

The Mornington Peninsula is currently recognised as part of Metropolitan Melbourne however its characteristics are more akin to other locations that are recognised as regional Victoria.
Mornington Peninsula businesses and residents alike are disadvantaged by this on a number of levels, and discussions within the business sector have been had about this for years now. Unfortunately, it is really only now becoming more apparent across the wider community with the current Covid-19 pandemic and the resulting lockdowns.
This affects all of us in some way, examples of which include: payroll tax rates, household rates, access to government grants, ability to employ certain overseas travellers, financial assistance for access to business training, infrastructure projects, VicRoads upgrades, financial assistance for low income residents and so many more items that deserve to be listed.
It is time that we come together, as residents of this wonderful Mornington Peninsula, and demand that a change is made. We deserve to be recognised correctly by our government and we also deserve access to so many more offerings that we miss out on due to this incorrect 'label'.
If the above hasn't convinced you let me ask you this: Did you know that the Mornington Peninsula received just .09% of the funding announced for our neighbours in the Greater City of Geelong in this years Vic State Budget?
To spell it out $424,000 of new funding was announced for the Mornington Peninsula whilst $463.43 million of new funding was announced for Greater Geelong, which has the same population as the Mornington Peninsula across three state districts.
As a small business owner and a Mum of primary school aged children I encourage everyone to stand with me to help make this change.
For our beautiful Mornington Peninsula!
