Why this petition matters

Started by Miles Shades
- Atlantic City has the infrastructure to support an international seaport alongside the Absecon Inlet, Back Bay Harbors, and Coastal Waterways from Brigantine to Cape May.
- The water depth of 35-40 feet can displace the draft of a midsized passenger ocean liner R.M.S. Titanic's dimensions: 269 meters (882.75 feet) in length, 52,310 tons, 34' draft.
- Distinguished cruise lines such as Holland America, Viking, Silversea, and Aurora Expeditions serve as seafaring cultural diplomacy vessels worldwide.
- The combined output of tidal, nuclear, solar, and wind energy can sustain the operation of the seaport terminal.
- Transatlantic, Northeastern, and Southeastern itineraries will appeal to domestic and international passengers.
- Atlantic City Airport (ACY) can be expanded to include multiple airlines offering direct and affordable fares from major international cities.
- The seaport will remain under federal jurisdiction through Congressional earmarked funding (NJ-2).
- Interstate commerce policies and federal law enforcement will retain operational autonomy, e.g. Port Everglades, FL.
- A private-public partnership must be forged between the Casino Reinvestment Development Authority (CRDA), City of Atlantic City, State of NJ, Stockton University, private shareholders of construction securities (e.g., the Suez Canal Corporation) and Congressional District (NJ-2).
- A grassroots petition must be signed to lobby for key stakeholder approval
- Reinvestment revenue must proportionately impact the constituents of Atlantic City and Southern New Jersey within Cape & Atlantic counties first, before the entire State of NJ.
- The Army Corps of Engineers must be deployed to survey the Absecon Inlet, surrounding Back Bay channels, and offshore waterways to assess a need for dredging and beach replenishment.
- Eminent Domain must be invoked in North Atlantic City, Gardiner's Basin, and Brigantine to allow for the expansion of the inlet channel.
- Resorts, Cruise Lines, and Governments must collaborate to ensure the cultural history and integrity of Atlantic City is properly curated for passengers to facilitate cultural diplomacy worldwide.
