Shawn Carpenter started this petition to Atlanta City Council and

In the last city council meeting, city council decided to ban smoking in restaurants and bars and at the airport in Atlanta. It is now waiting on a signoff from mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms. The smoking rooms at Hartsfield are all enclosed from other travelers and have adequate ventilation. The city will probably use the old smoking rooms to bring in new businesses and generate revenue.

Smokers will now have to take the plane train outside to smoke which is pretty much impossible to do on a layover under 2 hrs as you will have to exit and reenter security. The city will lose revenue from travelers like myself who have no other reason to fly out of (or connect to) ATL except for the smoking lounges. Other airports such as Washington DC Dulles, Miami, Cincinatti, Nashville and others still have these lounges. The smoke doesnt go into terminals and the airports make more money by people who show up early and utilize the shops and restaurants knowing they can still smoke after they shop.

Let's keep Hartsfield Jackson the world's busiest airport
