The Bickman Center at Clark University should be a safe place for everyone on campus to exercise at. Many marginalized genders feel uncomfortable, to say the least, while working out. The stares and looks that are given by mostly men create a very harsh environment to feel safe in. Please sign this petition if you support the creation of a specific time allowed to those who do not feel welcome in the presence of men while exercising.

At Clark University we pride ourselves in standing up for what we believe in. This specific issue promotes the stereotypes of people who should and should not go to the gym. At the same time it also supports the horrible treatment that women experience everyday in the real world. I believe that establishing a specific time allotted for marginalized genders to exercise in the Bickman Center will not only produce a safer setting but will also influence others to be more aware of their behavior while at the gym.

Personally, I have felt this insecurity at the gym and have heard many of my friends decline going because of it. The facilities here on campus should be secure enough so that students feel comfortable going. It is something that is included in our tuition and should be used by those who want to. Show your support for this change by signing this petition in order to see this happen on our campus.
