Why this petition matters
Started by Jennifer Novicki
There is a section of Highway 129 in Athens, Georgia between Kathwood Drive and Whitehead road that is very deadly. Over 10 people have died on a stretch of road that is under a mile long. This road needs a turn lane in order to prevent more deaths.
What is the obvious solution to the safety problem of Highway 129? Clearly, the road needs a center turn lane at the very minimum. If a person inquires as to why this has not happened, the person will find out that our government does not want to spend the money to relocate the railroad tracks to allow room for the turn lane to be built. Lives will continue to be lost because our government does not believe that our roads’ safety is as important as their money.
