ATF: REVERSE YOUR ILLEGAL BAN OF BUMP STOCKS.

The ATF classified bump stocks as machineguns, making them illegal to own. They claim that bump stocks convert semi-automatic firearms into machineguns.

Semi-automatic firearms shoot once per trigger action.

Machineguns shoot continuously while the trigger is pulled.

Bump stocks are a combination of stock and grip. They have no mechanism for holding the trigger down, and they do not alter the way the gun shoots.

Bump-firing is a general method for shooting semi-automatic firearms quickly. Fast semi-automatic shooting is often mistaken for machinegun fire, when in reality the user is just pulling the trigger quickly. Bump-firing can be achieved in many ways:

Why should this ban be reversed?

  • Bump stocks do not meet the definition of machineguns.
  • Bump stocks do not allow semi-automatic firearms to function as machineguns.
  • Banning items that do not meet the definition sets a dangerous precedent.
