Hello,

My name is Te'Yah Wright, a current junior majoring in Environmental Science, and I am starting this petition to bring yearbooks back to our campus at Alcorn State Univeristy.

For over a decade, Alcorn State University has gone without producing yearbooks for their students. Even though to others it may appear to simply be an object, a yearbook carries the precious memories and occasions that took place during every Alcornites time on and off campus.

SWAC Championships, rewarding presentations and events, and showing off our purple and gold pride are just a few examples that deserve to be documented for Alumni and current students to reflect on and to hold dear to their hearts after graduating.

There is a team, essentially a Yearbook Club, waiting that includes myself that will assist in the process of designing and coordinating the yearbooks which is of course open to all students who would like to help. To come out of pocket in order to receive a yearbook is also of no issue because to have this tradition back on our campus is what's important. Amazing ideas for participation and funding have already been established to allow this tradition to be very successful again. 

In the past, the money for yearbooks were essentially "free" because it was taken out of our tuition. If everyone agrees, the funding can come from this source once again. This is honestly the best option for it allows ALL students to take those sacred memories home with them. 

We hope that every person's signature on this petition shows how much our community supports this idea and that everyone's time and effort to simply sign as well will be taken into account. 

To have yearbooks back at Alcorn State University is to have a piece of history that will be carried on for many years to come... We can't go another year without the legend each class established preserved. 

I know with every new idea/decision, it takes time for change to happen so there is absolutely no rush on the situation. We would just like for the idea to be acknowledged, discussed, and then addressed to either myself, but preferably the entire student body on the decision of this matter.
