Bill "Red" Drennan was a basketball coach in the Jersey City Public School system for over 35 years. Bill was looked upon as a leader, mentor and friend by many of his peers and students. Bill has made a tremendous impact on Jersey City youth which has carried over into their adult lives and in some instances their own children. The lives he changed for the better on a daily basis never went unnoticed by his students, players and peers.
When the news of Bill's passing became know, the outpouring of condolences was overwhelming. The personal stories that were shared substantiate Bill's reputation of being a selfless coach with a passion for the game of basketball and those that participated.
Many current and former players, coaches and staff have suggested that the Dickinson High School basketball court be named after Bill Drennan for the countless hours he spent there helping to mold young men into better players and individuals.
Bill Drennan has made a lasting impact on youth basketball and his resume speaks for itself;
