Reverse the decision to close The Family Institute (University of South Wales)

The University of South Wales has made the decision to close the Family Institute. This well loved department offers part time systemic counselling and psychotherapy courses; BSc, Post Graduate, and Masters.

In making this decision, the university has not followed their own policy of consulting with students and the local community. There is no other Systemic Family Psychotherapy training in Wales. If students want to continue their studies they will have to travel into England.

Each year, students on these courses work on placement at charities in the local community providing essential counselling and mental health support. The Institute also offers very low cost/free counselling to families (with a case load of up to 50 families at any one time). All of this mental health support is being pulled from the local South Wales area, in a time of crisis.
