Lorenzo Fred Woodford started this petition to Asking governor to grant clemency

My name is Lorenzo Woodford Jr. I am 32 years old. I am currently serving a 38 year sentence for two aggravated malicious wounding and two use of a firearm in commission of felony. I am very remorseful for the two victims and their family. I can't take back or erase any mistakes made in the past but I can learn from them and ensure that I don't make the same mistakes again in the future. I am asking for clemency from Governor Ralph Northam to be able to grant me a conditional pardon and a chance to reunite with my family and loved ones once again. I will greatly appreciate all of the support received.

On October 22, 2007 I was convicted of 2 aggravated malicious wounding counts and 2 use of a firearm in commission of a felony. I was sentenced to 53 years, with 15 being suspended leaving me with 38 years to serve for my first conviction. I was 18 years old when I began this incarceration and had no prior record(s) before this incident.

Prior to my incarceration I lived in Buckingham County being raised by my Grandmother Mrs. Gladys Glover. I have 2 brothers and 1 sister in which my younger brother and sister was raised in the same home. Our home burned down in 2006 and we lost everything. It was one of the saddest days I have ever experienced.

On December 30, 2006 me and approximately 10 friends went out to a birthday party to have a good time and to show our support. Not long after our arrival a brawl broke out, which led to the two individuals being shot. I did not know the victims but again I am very remorseful for what happen.

Being incarcerated has impacted my family in many ways. I have a total of 8 nephews and nieces and I have only met 2 of them due to covid-19 restrictions which include no visitation until further notice. There are many things that I could do to help and life lessons that I could teach to my nephews and nieces in society. I have lost valuable years of being away from them.

While being incarcerated I have further educated myself, I earned my G.E.D during the first year of my incarceration. I also have earned Brick Masonry Trade and earned Blood Pathogens Training. I have completed Substance Abuse and Thinking for a Change programs. I have held a steady job throughout my years of incarceration. My current job title is a Recreation worker in gym, which consists of cleaning gym, managing outside recreational equipment, and referee/officiating basketball games. I've held a a calm manner through heat of the passion moments during these games while dealing with various attitudes. My mindset is to "Love others as you love your yourself".

Other than working I provide a positive influence to other offenders. I'm always there to listen and even lend a helping hand. I try to lead by example in a positive form. My plan is to start a program talking to the youth referring to importance of decision making and how it could change their future, I will use my life as an example to warn them.

I apologize for all wrong I took action in. I am asking for a second chance in society by earlier release and I will prove that I can be productive and successful in society. I'm now a much more educated and wiser person. I get along with people very well. I miss my family, friends, an loved ones. I would love to be around them and spend quality time with my family, nephews, and nieces. I would provide a positive influence on their life. I have spent alot of time incarcerated and it is not worth it. If I am granted a second chance I will make the most of it.

All considered, your signatures will be very needed if you approve. I need as many signatures as possible to show that I have good support and that people believe in me. I greatly appreciate everyone for taking time out of your day to show support. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me. you can contact me through mail or JPay e-mail.
