Accountability for Managed Care Plans in Ohio

My petition is asking that the Governor  of Ohio to hold the Managed Care Plans  to highest level of accountability and responsibility. Change must happen within the way the managed care plans are operating. Providers and consumers are being affected by issues surrounding payment for services to those who are on community waiver programs around the state.

Some providers are experiencing problems with payment for services. Their clients and their families are suffering because of this. Many independent providers have worked long hours without being paid or their pay is inconsistent.. Many of the providers have spent  hours and sometimes days on the phone trying to get the issues resolved. There hasn't been much resolution to these issues.

Many consumers have also had issues with payments going to doctors and other medical professionals. Some doctors are being paid as little as $0.57 cents per visit or not paid at all. This creates problems for people on this type of insurance. It could have affect in the long run of who will continue to take MyCare Ohio in the future.

Consumers have suffered as well. Some consumers have tried to speak up and advocate about issues only for the managed care companies to try to silence those consumers or create obstacles for them within their community based waivers and services. This is very problematic and something needs to change.

We are calling on the Governor of Ohio to hold these managed care plans accountable.

This includes:

  1. A plan for all independent providers across the state who provide services to people on community based waivers to be paid in a reasonable amount of time from when services are rendered.
  2. Liasons for each managed care plan per county that can help resolve provider pay issues in timely manner.
  3. Assessments to be given to consumers and providers of those community based waivers to help identify challenges and changes that could be made to bring improvement to the programs offered.

We are asking the Governor to access the situation with independent providers, medical professionals and even the consumers. These providers make a huge difference in the lives on the people they serve. This petition is calling for change so that those people they serve can continue to live independently in their homes and communities.
